Your permit, my job.

Every trip I've scheduled got its permit. Yours is next.

The full details

Three steps, then summer.

  1. 1

    Pick your trip and pre-book

Every trip on the calendar is a route and a set of dates I'm planning around. Open one to see the day-by-day, then pre-book the dates that work.

  2. 2

    I secure the permit

Yosemite issues wilderness permits about six months ahead, so early-summer trips firm up in winter and late-summer and fall trips in spring. The permit sets the final dates and camps, almost always exactly as planned. Hold off on flights until you hear from me.

  3. 3

You lock it in, and start counting down

My email carries a private booking link. Through it you pay the rest of your 50% deposit, and your card is saved for the balance. 30 days before the trip, the other half is charged to that card. A few days before we go, I send you the meeting time and place.

Pre-book

Put 2027 on the calendar.

$150 covers your whole party and counts toward your trip deposit. Refundable any time, minus the 3% Stripe credit card processing fee.

Full FAQ
Can I book a 2027 backpacking trip now?

Yes. Pick a trip on the 2027 calendar, put down $150, and your party is on it. Regular booking opens trip by trip as each permit comes in, starting this winter. Pre-booking is how you get your place before then.

What does a pre-booking secure?

Your seat on the trip, at the price shown. The dates and route are the plan; the permit makes them final, and they almost always land as listed. The $150 counts toward your trip deposit once the permit is secured. The full terms are on the terms page.

When are my dates final?

The calendar shows the dates and route I'm planning around, and most trips run exactly as listed. What makes them final is the wilderness permit I secure. Yosemite issues those about six months ahead, so early-summer trips firm up in winter, late-summer and fall trips in spring. You hear the specifics from me the day I have the permit, before you pay the deposit.

What if you can't get a permit for my dates?

You choose: move to another trip on the calendar with seats open, at that trip's price with your $150 credited, or take your deposit back minus the 3% Stripe credit card processing fee. It is rare; I build the calendar around dates and routes where I have historically had success obtaining permits.

Can I pre-book a private or custom trip?

Yes. Choose "Custom / Private", tell me what you have in mind on a planning call, and I price it for your trip. Then I send you a private link, and $150 pre-books it on the same terms as any trip on the page.

Should I book flights now?

Not yet. Wait for my confirmation, which comes with the final dates. Once you have it, book with confidence, and consider a standard trip-cancellation policy for the things my terms can't cover, like an injury the month before your trip.

“Eric handled everything. Permits, route planning, meals, tent, bear canister, cooking gear. I never would have found those campsites or built this route on my own. Worth every penny.”

“Eric was a fantastic guide. The trip was really well thought out and he used his experience to show me parts of Yosemite few see. Would recommend Eric 100%.”
